Anstey Grove Barn is surrounded by villages and countryside which provide a wealth of opportunities to appreciate country life at its best.

Walking

Extensive nature trails and footpath network across the meadows and woods of Hertfordshire, including “The Herts Way”.

Cycling

The winding country lanes make for excellent cycling if you have your own bikes and we have a few family bikes that may available during your stay for a casual cycle around the village.

Eating and drinking

We’re surrounded by a wealth of local pubs providing good food and a friendly atmosphere. Just ask us when you come and we’ll recommend somewhere for you.

Local interest

There is a great deal of history in the village and surrounding area, from the Norman church and castle mound in Anstey itself to the former second world war American bomber station at Nuthampstead, which has a memorial stone at the Woodman pub, a few miles away.

The nearby town of Royston has a museum and historic caves to explore, while the Imperial War Museum at Duxford hosts regular and renowned airshows, and is home to the American Air Museum.

Local amenities

The town of Buntingford is six miles away and has supermarkets, and service stations, as well as pubs, restaurants and cafes.

Further afield

The historic university city of Cambridge with its wealth of museums and galleries (including the well-known Fitzwilliam Museum; music and arts venues; pubs and restaurants, and shopping, not to mention punting on the River Cam, is just 20 miles away (those more hearty among you should ask us about a great round-trip to Grantchester and back).
